Human Rights Defense (India) organised a symposium on the subject “Hindus in Pakistan-Crisis of Existence” on 11th August 2011 at the Speaker Hall of the Constitution Club of India, New Delhi.
The subject being volatile and appalling, distinguished personalities expressed great anguish and deep regret ,over the casual approach of the Government of India and Pakistan over the violations of Rights of Hindu citizens in Pakistan,
Sh. Rajesh Gogna, General Secretary , deliberated on the situation and appraised the guests the depleting population , atrocities on Hindus with no protection either from Government or the Judiciary, Conversions , forced marriage, denial of cremation of dead Hindus as per Hindu customs and rites, non registration of marriage of Hindus. He also stressed upon the constitutional discrimination of Hindus in Pakistan.
Justice O.P.Verma former Chief Justice Kerala High Court suggested that ‘we should sensitize ourselves to take up matter of human rights of Hindus in Pakistan with the Pakistan Government and UNO. He also suggested poignantly that the matter should be taken up with Government of India .to take up the matter with its counterpart in Pakistan .
It was also stressed upon that the more we think over the issue the more we know what has been happening in Pakistan. He also made some result oriented suggestions to combat with the existing enormous problems of Hindus in Pakistan.
Mr. Jitender Bajaj, renowned economist, in his address revealed the startling facts about decline in Hindu population stating that in 1941 it was 56. Lacs and in the year 1951 Hindu population in Pakistan was 5 lcs.He also stressed that a development history on the subject matter should be written.
Sh M.N.Krishnaman, Senior Advocate Supreme Court of India , Shri Laxami Dass , President Harijan Sewa Sangh, an organisation founded by Mahatama Gandhi, also pleaded that Pakistan Government must be approached to work out means to sort out the problems so that the plight of the Hindus there is lessened.
Sh. Jaswant Singh, former External Affairs Minister of India revealed his personal experience from his visit to Pakistan . His narrations about his visit to holy temple there and how he mobilized public opinion to stop erection of a dam by demolishing a temple were listened to with rapt attention.

He called upon the Hindu organisation to adopt temples in Pakistan and also help Hindus in Pakistan for getting their kith and kin married in India. He also called upon that every Hindu in Pakistan should visit temples in Pakistan. He commended the initiative taken by Human Rights Defense ( India ). He also emphasized that human rights is always a challenge.
Sh. Shiv Khera, Internationally renowned educator and motivator said “if there is no war, it does not mean that the peace prevails” . Highlighting the issue of conversion of Hindu girls, he quoted verdict of Kerala High Court regarding “love Jihad “
