Input 1/20/2012 12:53:59 AM || Jammu, January 19 (KIP) :: Displaced Kashmiri Pandits (KPs) who fled from Kashmir valley in early nineties soon after the outbreak of militancy in Kashmir today observed 22nd “holocaust day”. [Elaborately it is said as Kashmir Hindu Holocaust Day].
The Joint Forum of Kashmiri Pandit organizations on held a massive protest demonstration today on the occasion of 22nd Holocaust Day outside the Raj Bhawan, Jammu The demonstrators carried placards and raised slogans remindful of ethnic cleansing and mass exodus of Kashmiri Pandits in 1990.
Chief Minister Omar Abdullah Thursday tweeted saying today marks another year of an incomplete Kashmir and expressed need to redouble efforts to facilitate the return of Kashmiri pandits to their rightful homes.
The speakers expressed, “Kashmiri Pandits have a rightful and natural claim on the territory of Kashmir and their Resettlement in Kashmir is a genuine political issue. This issue can be addressed only by meeting out the geo-political aspirations of the seven lakh displaced Kashmiri Pandits in the light of the demand of homeland in Kashmir.”
The issue of encroachments of temples and shrines in Kashmir was also raised and termed as very serious issue and the government was reminded to take cognizance of the same.
The activists also raised slogans against terrorism and apathetic attitude of the government against the displaced community.
All prominent leaders of the Kashmir Pandit organizations participated in the programme. They included Ashwani Kumar Chrungoo, President, Panun Kashmir, H.L.Chatta, General Secretary, ASKPC, D.N.Kissu, Chairman, NCMCC, R.K.Raina, Senior Vice President, ASKPC, Virender Raina, Sunil Dimple leader of Jammu West Assembly Movement.
