Colombo, February 2: Sri Lanka Navy escorted four Tamil Nadu fishermen, who were stranded in Sri Lankan territorial waters and handed them over to the Indian Coast Guard Wednesday. Sri Lankan authorities said that this humanitarian gesture by Navy dispels allegations being made by the Tamil Nadu politicians that the Sri Lanka Navy is harassing and shooting the Tamil Nadu fishermen.
Sri Lanka Naval vessel P 484 attached to the Northern Naval Command and the Coast Guard vessel CG 46 escorted the fishermen and handed over them with their fishing trawler to Indian Coast Guard Ship Vigraha in the seas off Delft at the International maritime Boundary Line.
The four Tamil Nadu fishermen had left for fishing from Jegathapattinam in India on January 25th and were stranded in Delft when their trawler suffered a mechanical failure and drifted to Delft island in the Palk Strait.
